Seed Capital Kentucky, a nonprofit developing the project, has identified KHI Foods as one of the first tenants for what will essentially be a commercial agriculture park serving the growing demand for locally produced food.

The $45 million food hub, which will be at 30th Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard, will process, store and distribute locally grown foodstuffs at the site, where National Tobacco Co., once dried, cut and packaged tobacco. The hub could create 250 permanent jobs as well as 270 construction jobs.
